10 MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE CBD

Situated on the ever so popular Walkerville Terrace, no matter what day of the week, the Coffee Institute, an up and coming coffee and brunch house, will be bustling and thriving.

What makes the Coffee Institute different to any other trendy Adelaide cafe, you might ask. Well, I was amazed when perusing through their Instagram page to find not only plates of food, but works of art. The effort that goes into the presentation of these dishes is simply phenomenal. Every dish is laden with colour which perfectly compliments the subtle Persian influence that you can find woven into the menu. Naturally, I was bound to check this place out.

At a glance, the Coffee Institute is quite unassuming. It invites you in with its trendy all black exterior and minimalistic signage. It's just as nice to sit out the front, nestled amongst the greenery, taking in the livelihood of the Walkerville community, as it is to head inside. This option is particularly tempting if you're a dog lover, as there is no shortage of furry friends.

It's not until you walk inside that you experience the true atmosphere and community that is Coffee Institute. Inside you will find a sea of aesthetically pleasing table and chair setups, where you could sit for hours soaking up the ambience of the place. The lingering scent of coffee beans denotes that it's the perfect place for the self-professed coffee lover, needed to refuel and take a break from their busy schedules.

On the topic of coffee, the owner and baristas here know a thing or two, and put quite simply, make one of the better cups i've had in Adelaide. Not only is the product good but they're on trend with all things coffee, even selling the sustainable and now ubiquitous Frank Green coffee cups at the counter.

I visited this cafe on more than one occasion - once on a Sunday and once on a Tuesday - because the menu is not only expansive, but also intriguing. I felt compelled to return.

Coffee Institute is sure to provide more than just an ordinary brunch. A new take on a crowd favourite, smashed avo, sees it paired with mixed sprouts, himalayan sea salt and lime. The sweet tooths of Adelaide will not be disappointed either, with decadent waffles, french toast and even pancakes making an appearance on the menu, what more could you want?

Honestly, this place even makes the humble bacon and egg duo look stunning - this was particularly surprising as I often opt for the scrambled option, which is not always the most glamorous choice.

All in all, Coffee Institute is the perfect place for not only the avid brunch enthusiast, but every Adelaidian seeking a touch more vibrancy and flair that can't be found elsewhere.
