IS AESOP SKINCARE JUST A PRICEY, AESTHETICALLY PLEASING BOTTLE?

IN THE CBD (RUNDLE STREET) OR 10 MINUTES DRIVE TO BURNSIDE VILLAGE FROM ADELAIDE CBD

In short, no. I believe Aesop products are worth every cent.

About a year ago, I purchased my first Aesop product, much to my mother’s dismay, who crinkled her face up at the $40 price tag for hand cream. This is nothing out of the ordinary though, my tastes and my mother’s tend to have a slight variance, a variance which usually comes down to price. The Aesop ‘Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm’ is a must have, it has the signature, highly aesthetic packaging which is in every second bloggers Instagram flatlays. It was and still is my pride and joy, not only does it look good but it is a lifesaver for my dry and flaky hands (ew). It really does have the power to resurrect and did I mention – it smells delicious. It has also lasted a lifetime, well not quite, it’s still going strong but I will need to replace it in the foreseeable future. The one downside for me would be the screw cap lid. However, I must admit, this probably comes down to my clumsiness. I find that the screw top is quite difficult to screw and often goes missing for two weeks, minimum.

For a long time, I ummed and arred about purchasing Aesop skincare. For me, skincare has never really taken priority. I have been very lucky in that my skin is typically quite good. However, as I get older, I am beginning to see the importance of taking care of your skin. There was really no in between for me, I went from washing my face with water in the shower to buying a cleanser, toner and moisturiser from Aesop. There is no denying it, Aesop is pricey, it’s certainly not your run of the mill, Coles isle 7, $15.99 all in one cleanser. However, there is a real difference. I purchased the Parsley Seed cleanser, the new In Two Minds toner and the Mandarin facial hydrating cream. These products were recommended to me due to my combination skin and preference of having a more dewy finish. Of course there are plenty more options where you can choose based on scent, skin type and just general preference. I have been using the products for about 3 months now and my skin has never felt better. I use the products every night and most mornings and find that it leaves my skin soft and refreshed, and of course the aesthetic bottles sitting on my counter also leave me feeling happy, sophisticated and achieved.

Aesop is not just about the product, it is about the experience and the feeling. Every time, you walk into a store you have to stop and take a moment to appreciate the architecture of the store. It truly is a sight to see and there’s something cathartic about even just standing in the store and enjoying the ambience of the brand which is Aesop. Each store is unique in one way or another, and for the most part staff are always incredibly attentive. They are more than happy to listen and run through the products, suggesting what would work with your skin type.

If I could, I would own every single Aesop product there is on offer. So please, do yourself a favour, go and visit your nearest Aesop store today, you don’t even have to buy something, just experience the brand
